A fun fishing trip has turned into an expensive outing for five Sunshine Coast fishers when QBFP busted the group with 150 undersized fish. Thanks to a tip from Fishwatch, officers intercepted the fishers trying to hide their catch and flee Chambers Island in the Maroochy River. All of the fishers plead guilty and were fined a total of $4000. You can report any unlawful fishing in Queensland by calling the 24-hour Fishwatch hotline on 1800 017 116.

Comment from FisheriesQld:

A fisher in Bundaberg has been fined more than $20 000 for the removal and destruction of marine plants. QBFP conducted long-term monitoring after receiving numerous complaints about the disturbance of marine plants near the Burnett River. Significant photo evidence showed the offender burning marine plants, spraying them with herbicide and pushing them downstream on multiple occasions. The removal, damage or destruction of marine plants is unlawful and carries heavy penalties.
