Our brains love, and desire, comfort. We rely on our brain and it’s survival mechanisms to keep us safe, but how much comfort do we actually need? I was reminded of the importance of discomfort while struggling to hold a Warrior 3 pose taught by my brilliant friend @marymhorne 🤍 She said, “it’s okay to be uncomfortable, that’s where growth happens.” The more you do it, the easier it will become..... (PRACTICE). I thought about it again this morning when a client asked, “why can I do lat pull-downs so easily and not pull-ups?” ..... (PRACTICE). A friend yesterday confessed that they struggle with trying not to eat late at night and wants to allow proper hormone release for fat burning and muscle recovery release. Yea it’s not fun, but you know what makes it easier.... yup, PRACTICE. I can think of a dozen times when I could have chosen comfort. But then I reflect on all the incredible things I’ve seen, ways in which I’ve grown, experiences I have acquired because I chose discomfort. Life would be so dull without it, and so few dreams would be actualized. Also... the goal can be even more practical. Sometimes discomfort is just preparing you for unexpected situations? What’s worse: 3 min of a cold shower OR being caught outside in NYC on a blustery, winter day? (You know I’ll @never stop advocating cold showers) Where can you find discomfort? Life Hack for to taking full ownership of your day: Radically Acknowledge your Priorities (I see a snazzy acronym in there). Totally remove the phrase “not enough time” from your vocabulary. It isn’t helpful to reject the reality of 24 hours in a day. Whether we like it or not, days are as long as they are, and we are inundated with to do lists that usually add up to more hours than we spend awake. So how do you spend those waking hours? The truth is, if you make something a priority then you will make time for it. If you don’t, you won’t. This is incredibly empowering because it gives you the opportunity to make your own decisions rather than attach to the excuse that you “would if you had more time.” This isn’t to say that you should feel bad if you have a day when you do not exercise or eat clean or journal or whatever. But that you should take ownership that you chose to prioritize other things ahead of that. And that is fine. And tomorrow you can make choices all over again and shift your priorities. I’ve been coaching people for the last year in their specific body type - teaching them how to learn about what they have to work with under the think.sleep.eat.move categories. Society makes it too complicated, it’s time to learn about the body you live in and how you are expressing your genetic make-up daily. We now have the tech to figure this out - but if you aren’t up for that, back track a few generations and start living how your ancestors did. Bet they didn’t sit at a computer all day or on the flip side over exercise into complete exhaustion on a daily basis! 😉😁

Can we change the word VICTIM to survivor please ⁉️⁉️⁉️ Victim support, victim impact statement, victim blaming, victim etc etc etc‼️ I struggled so hard with the blame game. With the victim mindset. With the ‘it’s everyone else’s fault’ syndrome as to why my life was messed up. And you know what? Nothing changed. I needed a wake up call and some sound coaching with no fluff to get me off my backside and take responsibility. To be empowered and to brave the risks. To be fearless and to just dive in!!! 🌊 People often only see the glam on fb and insta. No one sees the hours of coaching, the self awareness coaching, the soul searching, the inner work, the tears, the binges, the stuff ups and how you love yourself through it all to rise above. I did all the free and paid courses through Joseph Wilson at Fuse Life including the ‘Catalyst’ and ‘Royal Hybrids’. And today as I look back at the woman I used to be ... even just two months ago - where certain things would shake me, make me insecure or lose my footing and now I literally laugh - it makes me realise how far I’ve come 🚶‍♀️ Shilpa’s opinion - Everyone needs a coach if they want to push past mental barriers and do the seemingly impossible.
