Ergogenic aid 4: NITRIC OXIDE (specifically beets)! Beets are a natural superfood. Everyone could use more beets in their life! They are a classic ergogenic aid for cardiorespiratory endurance. Beets & beetroot juice have been shown to enhance stamina during prolonged exercise. Beets contain chemicals called nitrates, which our body changes to nitric oxide. Nitric oxide allows smooth muscles to relax and causes blood vessels to dilate. This leads to increased blood flow and thus, increased oxygenation of blood to working muscles. Beyond the increase in blood flow, nitric oxide can help regulate blood pressure, gas exchange, mitochondrial efficiency; strengthen muscle contraction and enhance anaerobic recovery. A meta-analysis looking at 23 studies concluded supplementation with beetroot juice can improve cardiorespiratory endurance in athletes by increasing efficiency. Performance at various distances was stronger; time to exhausting increased at difficult intensities; muscle contraction/relaxation was improved; anaerobic cardiorespiratory performance was enhanced and maximum oxygen uptake (VO2max) improved. There is still research that needs to be done to look at combination of beetroot juice with other supplements to observe their effects on endurance. Negative consequences with nitric oxide are bloating, diarrhea, decreased blood pressure and increased sweating. Athletes can try 6-10 ounces of beetroot juice (beet root powder mixed with water or fruit juice - my favorite beetroot powder so far is @BeetElite) 30-180 minutes before exercise. Peak effects can be observed 150 minutes after ingestion. As with any addition to a training routine, protocol should be practiced prior to competition. Benefits are best seen when beetroot juice is taken for 3-7 days and continuous. High performance athletes may need higher doses. If you can’t stomach beets or beet root juice, there are other foods that can boost nitric oxide levels. These include garlic, dark chocolate, meat, dark leafy greens, pomegranates and nuts/seeds. Or mix beet elite packs with oats, almond butter, chocolate protein powder and dried cherries for a protein packed energy ball😋

The sunrise came today and it lit a luminous fire of accomplishment Into the sky . Our Journey of fundraising the light needed to bring reality to Ajda’s dream to become a Completion Process practitioner to an end . We raised the $2600 to get her tuition paid off and the around 800€ that was needed to get her round trip plane ticket to the training and back. We did this in under a month . We did not plan ahead even , this all happened in 25 days or so . This journey has taught me so much about community and healthy dependency and how beautiful it can be and it also sparked by extension a huge awareness needed to integrate into all my relationships and that is authenticity . The audience I have already for my shamanic coaching business was something that I was happy to share with Ajda to make her dream come true and her happiness and the experience of it all did so much for my own awareness and expansion being that person for her was exactly what I needed and this is genuine community . When we commit to each other and take another as apart of ourselves we do not give out of transaction in the same way we are giving each other exactly what we have to offer that makes us feel good to give and by extension of giving whatever we are we are given exactly what we need and are made completed by our gift to another . Everyone has something that makes them happy to give and others need what you have . We are a connected species of united oneness . Today I’m spending the entire day relaxing and recharging! (Guilt-Free) Lately I’ve been feeling pretty flat and burnt out with a to-do-list that is ever growing and never ending. Being a mama of two and an entrepreneur I don’t always get to have or allow myself enough “me time”. I am very much a melancholic personality type and the way I recharge is by having space and time to be alone... this is pretty hard to do with little ones around as you can imagine! To my fellow Mamas & Girl Bosses... our roles are hard, our days are long and exhausting and we give our children and our projects more energy and time than what we could have ever predicted or imagined possible. We give, give, give and push, push, push all day, everyday and somehow we still never feel like we’ve done a good enough job or achieved enough to feel successful. THIS NEEDS TO STOP! Please don’t allow yourself to get to breaking point like I have before you realise that this life is actually meant to be fun and enjoyable! YOU choose your reality, YOU choose how you want to spend your days. I am personally making a commitment to change the way my days unfold.
