Working with clients on multiple levels creates better and lasting results. When I used to work as a nurse I often witnessed people being treated for physical symptoms WITHOUT the full body (including emotional, intellectual and spiritual health) being considered. Every part of you is attached to and integrated with all the other parts; you are one cohesive unit and what happens to one part will inevitably affect other parts. Treating your health holistically to me means supporting the physical body, emotional being, intellectual processing and the spiritual being together. Only by doing this will you fully heal. Happy first day of Spring! Spring is such an exciting time to create and grow and it’s also the perfect time to get rid of the old to welcome new beginnings. I have been preparing for the Spring by cleaning my house. Getting rid of anything that I haven’t used in a long time. I love seeing empty spaces in my house. I feel like I have more room to expand energetically. Today, I started my day cleansing my body, mind and spirit with a gentle morning breathwork practice. Afterwards I took a salt water bath with lavender essential oil. Not only is salt soothing for the physical body, it’s also a great cleanse for your aura and energetic field. (I usually do this ritual in the ocean). After that I saged my whole house. I’m starting this season feeling clear, focused and ready to set some new goals. -BODY CARE- ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My body is taking a battering with all this hiking, driving and sleeping in tents. My usual mobility and flexibility routine went out of the window 3 months ago and now I'm feeling the consequences! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As someone who tends towards being naturally strong and not flexible I have to ensure I bring regular mobility and flexibility work into my life. Most people will tend towards doing what comes naturally and avoiding what is harder for them when it's what we find hardest we usually need most. I always recommend to people to do little bit often. Ten minutes a day is manageable for most people most days and once you get a routine going it gets easy to stick with. Strength, mobility and flexibility come hand in hand and an absence of one can lead to issues over time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For me posterior chain stretches and fascia releasing changes everything. On grief: It’s inexplicable as I recount the memories in my mind. It doesn’t play like a movie and I’m the narrator. If there are two sides the other one is silent now. And others have had experiences I can’t reconcile-experience that touched them because of your passing. Experiences that inspired, touched, moved, ....them. I want them too but there’s no time to tell you I need that part of you. As I feel the urgency of the precision of life, the brevity of our time here. I start crying my regrets into the air. That last baby I never had but should have? Maybe. All the time and distance spent apart because of careers and the need for roots for children to thrive. The careers I tossed aside and worried over. The arguments. The short sightedness. The pettiness. The way I took it personally and the way I held on. Loss gives clarity in a way other things can’t. It is an ever changing insight into this moment-one that I’d like to sell short and escape. It’s the big picture where deeper stuff swallows the superficial and floods the gates. It’s temporary and permanent. Life can be so duplicitous. It’s an oxymoron to enjoy this moment when it is so sad-isn’t it? Yet, to take it all in and gain a richer existence we have to sit in it. 99.9% of the day we are subconsciously breathing. As in were going through our day.. majority of the time on an autopilot mode.. not even aware that there are MILLIONS of cells in our body all expanding and contracting at a biological level keeping our body breathing, our whole mind/body system alive and vital. So what happens when we breathe.. like we truly mean it? So. Much. Yum.... And softness. Calmness. Release. Presence. Awareness. Gratitude. Slow, deep inhales, focusing on the health being provided from nature as the oxygen gently finds its way from your nostrils, down into your space of the lungs ever so gently. The exhale invites us to release and empty the lungs.. almost like a washing away of old energy.
