This isn’t true. . 💥We see this challenged in tons of different kinds of studies examining those who stay active through out life. There is a great post from @trustmephysiotherapist comparing a senior’s thigh muscle mass in one who stayed active vs one who didn’t. . 🥊Resistance training is incredible for this too. Its almost a fountain of youth in what it can provide. We’ve seen a lot of studies look into this and we almost always see benefit. . 📕Two recent studies that exemplify this are the LIFTMOR studies. These used proper resistance training programming (not typically done in most studies) with senior individuals (men and women) and demonstrated improvements (or maintenance) of bone mineral density, increased muscle strength, reduced fall risk, and the safety of high intensity resistance training. . 🗣This is where encouraging resistance training throughout the life span becomes so beneficial.
