I’m not in my best shape AT ALL however I’ve learned to accept myself according to the moments I’m living and I’ve been very lazy for the past 4 years. Yep! But self confidence is everything alright?? 😝 You always get what you give!! Sunday morning I had a moment. And this is the first time I’ve felt this way in a long freaking time... After spending Sunday morning at a class about unworthiness and literally embracing your imperfections nonetheless, I sat in the target parking lot contemplating making myself puke. For starters, I felt like shit. I was sick with a cold. But, the thought that crossed my mind had nothing to do with being sick. It had to do with eating a ton of breakfast foods provided at this class and the after feeling of shame and feeling gross because of it. More or less the thought that crossed my mind was “I can just go throw up, then carry on with my day, I’ll feel better.” Over and over and over again. I tried to pin it on being sick, but let’s be real, that wasn’t the case, it was just a really good excuse. Maybe I was just nauseous from being sick? No. Believe it or not, I used to like the feeling of my stomach being empty after overeating... I would keep my blood sugars at dangerously high levels, that left me nauseous enough to to be able to throw up at will... which led to hmmm... at least 10? ICU stays with DKA? Honestly I lost count. And This is something I kept from my boyfriend now fiancé of 7+ years, my family, my close friends. After contemplating this idea for a solid 10 ish minutes I finally decided against it. But that didn’t take away from the fact that it happened. Here’s the thing, I was really ashamed of myself for having those thoughts. The entire moment has been replayed in my brain a million times. But if I’ve learned anything from @brenebrown ’s book, #TheGiftsofImperfection, and this class I’m starting with my work fam, it’s that one flawed moment isn’t the deciding factor in your journey. Learning to embrace that vulnerability and shame in order to grow is really hard. But in order to grow it’s a must. This bad moment, was just that a moment. The key is to either take away from it a lesson in order to keep moving forward, or to fall back into old dangerous habits. I obviously choose the first option, but it’s scary to think that those bad thoughts can just creep up at times! #diabulimia #mentalhealth #shameresilience #t1dlookslikeme #edrecovery

Sometimes the best thing to do first thing in the morning is laugh. Ridiculous, silly, giddy, cheese ball laughter just spreads a big ‘ol smile across one’s face, doesn’t it? I’d say that’s the brightest way to greet the day 😂. So cheers to the dads keepin’ it real, kickin’ it old school, and causing spontaneous fits of giggles in the process.
