Good evening, people! Finally back from vacation and I feel a bit fluffy, lol! No holds barred on the wine, and while I tried to primarily eat healthy, snacks happened and I gained a few pounds. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ Ah well, no regrets! Three weeks to Aruba, so I'm just tightening up the diet as much as I can and having NO wine these next three weeks. 😭😂 Anyway, this was lunch and dinner. Lunch was three whole eggs, one egg white, one slice of Ezekiel bread with a tbsp of butter. Found this gem while unpacking MORE boxes 😜 {Flashback Friday} fbf to the spring of 1999, when I was 24 and at the end of my student teaching practicum. I tried training for a marathon that year, but managed to get shin splints and gain weight--instead of losing weight and coasting across the finish line of the San Diego Rock'n'Roll Marathon triumphantly. (At least I managed to raise $2,000 for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in the process!) I remember how I felt in my body at that time: trapped, a little betrayed, so much larger than my friends were (when being skinny was held at a premium), eating emotionally to self-soothe (which added to my woes), wanting so badly to look and feel different, but not knowing HOW since my 'run a marathon and get skinny' plan was an epic failure. Through working with a smart and talented trainer for the next two years, then sticking with strength training long-term, slowly learning to eat more reasonably, and discovering the magic of HIIT and NEAT, I was able to create the change I wanted to see and feel. Change is possible for all of us, at any point in our lives, if we're willing to learn, to try new things, to get a little uncomfortable, and to tackle any mindset issues that might be holding us back. When we change our minds, we give ourselves the opportunity to change our experience of life ❤️ becomeyourbestyou mindsetmatters
